I booked a holiday villa in Greece through Vrbo - having paid money to the 'owner' 48 hrs later Vrbo email me to say the house is not available and they think it shouldn't be on their platform. They have refunded me their fee but I am still short of over £3,300. Their communication has been appalling and I am trying to recover my funds via the bank. NEVER EVER use Vrbo. They display villas that don't belong to people who claim they own them and Vrbo clearly never checks! They trust their own platform so little that they won't give me my money back when they have let a fraudulent villa be put on their platform.

I rented a villa in Seychelles could not get any confirmation, address or any contact with owner. VRBO would do nothing , could not leave Africa nor enter Seychelles without an address proving we had accommodations. Spoke and emailed no less than 20 times and VRBO did nothing, no help no accommodations. Run from this company never use them.

Scam artists. They list properties that aren’t available, then they cancelled our trip but took the deposit and have refused to return it for over a month. We are currently over £2000 out of pocket. Avoid like the plague, go to Airbnb. Complaints department completely inept with no manager availability.

VRBO accepted our payment for a 4 day stay in Grand Cayman, the booking was created two weeks ago. We kept waiting for the details or getting access and had emailed, then tried to phone. Guess what? Without any notification our reservation was cancelled, but they gave us our money back. This left us in such a lurch, needing to find a place to stay within the 3 days our flight leaves for this destination. POOR POOR there are no words for this company!! We want financial compensation for the difference we had to pay for another rental at last minute prices.

They are nothing more than con artists. This company is far far more expensive than other sites for the same accommodation. I booked a house on the coast in Norfolk, I booked directly with the owner but Vrbo, on their own site would have charged £400 more. That is ridiculous and these people should be in jail. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

VRBO mistakenly refunded our guests £4000 and have not acknowledged their mistake despite managers listening to the recording and have penalised us by not paying us when subsequent guests arrive in order to recover the funds as a result of their error. Furthermore, this refund which is registered by them as a cancellation by us (and it was not) has negatively impacted our status with VRBO. TRULY Awful firm. They do not return calls and refuse to resolve this situation which has left us out of pocket. Avoid if you can. Their customer service is abysmal. I have tried to escalate to a manager several times; the last occasion the customer service assistant refused to put me through to a manager. Did not used to be like this when it was Holiday Rentals.

The worst service ever....I'm waiting payment from their side from last 6 months and there is still no any indication that they will carry out a simple bank transaction.

FIRST TIME USER / LAST TIME USER.
booked a property in Ft. Myers Fla for 1 week. Booked and confirmed on Jan 15,2023 through VRBO affiliate Vacasa. Through my research I found the house was damaged in storm Ian last Fall and not repaired (roof damaged, tarp on roof, pool damaged0. I requested to cancel 1/27/23 well within the 100% refund period. 3 days later they told me waiting on owner to approve the cancellation ??? Huh ? This delayed a 5-10 business day refund period by another several days. Plus house was marketed with no description of damage. BUYER BEWARE !!

I booked a house in Tenerife from Vrbobut the location I discovered was unsuitable for me so I cancelled the booking in plenty of time. Two months later I am still waiting for my refund of my deposit despite many efforts get it. I get the same lady who informed me that I would hear shortly. Michael

I have booked a cottage through Sykes Cottages in partnership with VRBO, a representative from VRBO rang me this morning regarding a cottage I have booked in grasmere, she was rude, pushy, information was totally wrong, didn’t have any of the details of the booking regarding dates, deposit paid, totally unprofessional and put the phone down on me, if you have the recording which I’m sure you have, please listen to it, she is a disgrace!!!

VRBO is a great place to FIND properties, however DO NOT BOOK with them if it is not necessary. Look to see who owns/controls the condo, and then go directly to their website to book the property you want. You will avoid paying the ridiculous $100 service fee VRBO charges just to process your reservation. Learned the hard way.

VRBO processed two booking for me in error instead of one. They refused to issue a refund even though I contacted them within minutes. They stated I would need to contact the owner for a refund. I contacted the owner who said they would contact VRBO to initiate the refund. VRBO claims the owner will still not issue a refund. Many hours of escallation and VRBO still refuses to issue a refund. I see many reviews with the same repeated issue. Shameful!

They cancelled my 6 month reservation to get more money for KY Derby rental crowd. I reserved for $500 a night the new booked price is $2000!! Reserved August 2022 and Agent Canceled Jan 2023... reserved for 5-7/2023!!!

Customer Service a joke. Where is the Guarantee Specialist...still wating..

KY DERBY 2023 Fiasco

We looked at a villa in corfu that was a good price but hadn’t been reviewed. We contacted Vrbo directly who confirmed that the advert was legitimate and from an authorized agent and if there were any problems that they offer payment protection. We proceeded and later received an email from VRBO stating the advertiser was a scam. We asked for the money back and they said we need to take it up with the credit card company to get the money back from them instead. Completely different story from the advice provided over the phone. Avoid at all costs. VRBO do not stick to their word and do not carry out the checks they say they do, not do they offer payment protection. A friend later shared they had the exact same issue with Vrbo. Stay away!

We booked a villa on this site last year specifically for a wedding that was right near to this villa hence our booking. We received an email from Vrbo saying that this booking had to be cancelled, with no explanation or no alternative was offered. Would not use this company and definitely would not recommend it!!!
